“The Pope is Ranieri”, social media goes wild over alleged Pope lookalikes: Gualtieri and Draghi are also there

A bit Claudio Ranieri, a bit Mario Draghi , a bit Roberto Gualtieri . Or maybe a mix of all of them. Emotion aside, after the election of Robert Francis Prevost as the new pontiff , the meme race has already begun on social media. And many are hunting for similarities, which they see crystal clear in some shots of the coach, the former prime minister and the mayor of Rome. But the imaginative comparisons are endless.

“The Pope is Ranieri,” one reads on Twitter. One of the many posts that, with the help of artificial intelligence, sees the face of Leo XIV replaced with that of Ranieri, who now wears the papal robe. And again: “An American pope in full Trump era, a lookalike of Gualtieri who is named after Fedez’s son. How much fun they had in the conclave,” reads another post, written in Roman dialect.

And he's not the only one: "Am I the only one who sees a strong resemblance to Gualtieri?" asks Giuseppe L., to which Antonio M., a Juventus fan, responds with a photo of the coach. As if to say: "No, he looks more like Ranieri". Or again: "Mario Draghi who dresses up as the Pope just to try to save Italy. Whatever it takes". And down with hearts, re-visions and laughter.

In short: the network.
